Skanska is off to a rapid start since they began work along the former Norfolk Southern Railway right-of-way from Norfolk State University (NSU) to Newtown Road. Removal of the existing railroad track is currently 80% complete. The surcharge placement is nearly complete at the proposed light rail vehicle maintenance facility located near NSU.
